Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Penalty points for traffic violations will be assigned solely based on protocols issued by road patrol inspectors, according to Erali Bozorov, Deputy Head of the Traffic Safety Department of the Public Security Directorate at the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Uzbekistan, on 25 February.

This decision was made in response to public feedback and the current social situation. Violations will be recorded in the electronic database of the Main Traffic Safety Directorate (GUBDD) of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, minimizing human error.

The integration of traffic cameras and radar detections into the 12-point system remains a possibility for the future.

On 20 February, a new law introduced a penalty points system for traffic violations. Under this system:

• Drivers will receive penalty points in addition to standard fines.
• The maximum penalty for a single violation will not exceed two points.
• Points remain valid for one year before automatic removal.
• If a driver accumulates more than 12 points within a year, their license will be suspended for at least six months.

The Cabinet of Ministers is expected to define the specific point values for different violations and the implementation process within a month.
