Penalties for theft of electronic money from bank cards to be toughened

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- At a regular meeting of the faction of the Milliy Tiklanish Democratic Party in the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis, deputies discussed the bills included in the agenda, based on the goals and objectives of the party.

First, the members of the faction considered the draft law “On Amendments to the Code of the Republic of Uzbekistan on Administrative Responsibility”.

It was noted that recently the role of the National Guard in maintaining public order has been growing. So, in 2021 alone, as a result of work carried out jointly with the internal affairs bodies, 166,508 administrative offenses were identified. Also, the National Guard officers detained 187 wanted persons, who were handed over to the employees of the internal affairs bodies.

But today they do not have the authority to conduct administrative cases on the above offenses. As a result, this leads to red tape and red tape.

The draft law envisages granting these powers to the National Guard bodies. Amendments are also being made to the Code of Administrative Responsibility to expand their powers to identify offenses that infringe on public order.

The adoption of the draft law will serve to increase the efficiency in ensuring public safety, reduce the workload of employees of internal affairs bodies, while creating conditions for more comprehensive work with the population.

The meeting also actively discussed the draft law "On amendments and additions to the Criminal Code of the Republic of Uzbekistan."

As a result of the development and widespread introduction of information technologies in the republic, cases of fraud have become more frequent. In particular, there are cases of theft of funds from plastic cards of citizens or bank accounts.

Under the current legislation, insufficient criminal penalties are applied to the perpetrators. Based on this, the draft law strengthens responsibility for such crimes.

According to the deputies, the adoption of the bill will serve to prevent and combat the theft of funds from the account or plastic card of individuals and legal entities by deception or breach of trust

At the meeting of the faction, other bills included in the agenda were also discussed, and appropriate decisions were made.
