Paulo Bento Declines Offer to Lead Uzbekistan National Football Team
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Former head coach of the Portuguese national football team Paulo Bento has declined an offer to take charge of the Uzbekistan national team, reports A Bola.
According to the publication, the Portuguese specialist turned down the proposal, considering that the contract terms did not meet his expectations at this stage of his career.
Paulo Bento, 56, previously managed Sporting, Cruzeiro, Olympiacos, and Chongqing Lifan. His international experience includes leading the national teams of Portugal (2010–2014), South Korea (2018–2022), and the UAE (2023–2025).
Earlier, similar offers to lead Uzbekistan’s national team were also declined by former Germany head coach Joachim Löw and former Turkey head coach Fatih Terim.
