Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- To date, six parking lots have been handed over to Uzbekistan Airports at the international airlines terminal of Tashkent airport. The transfer of another parking lot, designed for an average of 400 spaces, is expected in the near future. The total number of parking spaces as part of the reconstruction and arrangement of parking lots will double.

These days, active work is underway to reconstruct existing and build new parking lots near the capital’s airport. For example, parking in front of the departure hall will be expanded from 214 to 333 parking spaces. The area will be increased by removing the canopy and retail outlets, as well as reconfiguring the arrival line for buses and taxis. In addition, a new parking lot for 175 places was created in front of the arrivals hall and the existing one for 122 places was reconstructed. In general, the new project of the forecourt area has increased the number of parking spaces by 187% - from 336 to 630 spaces.

The parking lot between the departure and arrival halls is also being reconstructed and will be used for tourist buses and minibuses making transfers to/from the hotel. The two outlying parking lots are also subject to reconstruction in the future. A large parking lot in the green zone is currently being transferred to the balance of Uzbekistan Airports.

“The new project of the forecourt, due to the optimization of the area, allowed to increase the number of parking spaces, as well as to distinguish between all types of transport – buses, private cars and taxis. According to the project, people should not stand on the street, parking - only for cars. For passengers, as well as seeing off and meeting, conditions are created in the terminal itself. Catering and retail outlets will soon be available in the departure hall on the third floor. In the arrivals area at the station square, it is planned to build a light structure that will be warm in winter and cool in summer, as well as seats, coffee corners and retail outlets. It is important to add that in support of environmental initiatives, more than a hundred deciduous and coniferous trees will be planted on the forecourt,” the press service of Uzbekistan Airports said.

As previously reported, all parking lots will be automated, as part of the reconstruction, equipment is being installed. At the same time, the setup and integration of the system will take some time. Work on the station square is scheduled to be completed within the current week. Uzbekistan Airports apologizes to passengers and guests of the capital’s airport for temporary inconvenience.
