Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 28 February 2022, Islamabad hosted the seventh round of political consultations between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan and the Islamic Republic of Pakistan.
The delegations of the parties were headed by Deputy Foreign Minister of Uzbekistan Furkat Sidikov and Deputy Foreign Minister of Pakistan Aftab Kureishi.
During the talks, the current state and prospects for the development of a multifaceted Uzbek-Pakistani strategic partnership were discussed.
Mutual interest in deepening cooperation in trade, economic, investment, cultural and humanitarian spheres was confirmed.
The parties separately discussed the implementation of major investment projects, in particular the construction of the Termez-Mazar-i-Sharif-Kabul-Peshawar railway.
Commitment was expressed to expanding cooperation in the Afghan direction, in particular, in matters of providing humanitarian and other assistance to the Afghan people.
As part of the consultations, other issues on the common agenda were also considered, as well as a schedule of joint events was agreed upon.
