Paid street parking launched in Tashkent

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Tashkent has launched its first paid roadside parking zones in test mode. In the initial phase, 86 zones have been put into operation, accommodating 13,000 to 14,000 vehicles.

One such zone, marked with a black "P" on an orange background, is located around Amir Temur Square and operates 24/7. The parking fee is 12,000 soums per hour, with fines imposed for non-payment.

Payment can be made via the Poytaxt Parking mobile app or in cash through Paynet terminals. The system was developed by Streetpark Systems, which won the tender to manage paid parking in the capital.

The pilot launch was initially scheduled for March, with full-scale implementation planned for July. The paid parking areas are divided into four tariff zones, with hourly rates ranging from 5,000 to 12,000 soums. The maximum rate approved by the Ministry of Economy and Finance is set at 30,000 soums per hour.

In October 2024, Tashkent Mayor Shavkat Umurzakov signed a resolution on the creation of paid parking spaces on city streets. According to the document, 13,200 parking spots are to be established by August 2025, with a long-term goal of reaching 84,000.

An auction to grant the right to manage these parking areas began in November. The winning company receives control of 262,800 square meters of street space for three years and is required to invest at least $5 million in its development.

In December, Streetpark Systems won a repeat auction, offering 62.93 billion soums. A previous tender in late November was won by Balcomuz JV, which had proposed about 120 billion soums, but the contract was never finalized.
