Ozzy Osbourne, Heavy Metal Legend and Black Sabbath Frontman, Dies at 76
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — On 22 July 2025, British rock musician Ozzy Osbourne — a founding father of heavy metal, iconic performer, and the unmistakable voice of Black Sabbath — passed away at the age of 76, Sky News reported.
According to a family statement, Osbourne died “surrounded by love,” just weeks after his triumphant farewell concert at Villa Park Stadium in his hometown of Birmingham. The epic show, which saw him reunite with his Black Sabbath bandmates and featured performances from Metallica and Guns N’ Roses, marked the final chapter of a legendary career.
"You have no idea what this means to me — thank you from the bottom of my heart," Osbourne told fans during the performance. Due to his declining health, he performed seated on a throne, but retained every bit of his signature charisma.
Ozzy Osbourne earned his place in music history as the voice of a generation, fronting Black Sabbath on classics like Iron Man, Paranoid, and War Pigs, and forging a successful solo career with anthems such as Crazy Train and Changes.
In the early 2000s, Osbourne became a television star through The Osbournes — the MTV reality show that offered a humorous, behind-the-scenes look at his life with wife Sharon and their children in Los Angeles.
Known for his outrageous persona, Osbourne's image as the “Prince of Darkness” was cemented by infamous moments — most notably biting the head off a bat on stage, a stunt that became the stuff of rock legend.
In recent years, Osbourne struggled with Parkinson’s disease and complications from a 2019 fall. Yet he continued to make public appearances, including a surprise performance at the closing ceremony of the 2022 Commonwealth Games.
Ozzy Osbourne was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame twice — with Black Sabbath and as a solo artist. His name is enshrined on the Hollywood Walk of Fame and Broad Street in Birmingham. He received five Grammy Awards, the Ivor Novello Award, NME’s “Godlike Genius” award, and Classic Rock’s “Living Legend” title.
He is survived by his wife Sharon and five children — Aimee, Kelly, Jack, Jessica, and Louis — along with several grandchildren. Though he is gone, Osbourne leaves behind a monumental musical legacy and millions of devoted fans around the globe.
