Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Over 500,000 citizens were able to legalize their work as self-employed. This was announced by the President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev in his message to parliament.

The head of Uzbekistan noted that 2020 was a turning point in the field of social protection. According to him, for the first time in Uzbekistan the existence of a poor population was recognized.

Uzbekistan has introduced a completely new system of support for the population, the President noted. “We are talking about “iron books”, thanks to which 572,000 citizens got jobs,” the President said. Another 500,000 citizens were able to legalize their work as self-employed.

The head of Uzbekistan noted that the number of recipients of social benefits has doubled and reached 1.2 million.
