Over 4.27m people use mobile services in Uzbekistan

Number of mobile users in Uzbekistan made up 4.269 million as of 1 September 2007, State Radio Frequency Commission said. Mobile penetration comprised 16.1% in the country.

The commission said the number of subscribers increased by 7.9% or 314,000 users in August 2007. The growth of subscribers made up 1.549 million or 57% compared to the beginning of the year. Mobile penetration level increased from 10.2% to 16.1% in the reporting period.

As of 1 January 2007, Uzbekistan has 2.72 million mobile subscribers. Currently, five mobile operators work in Uzbekistan, including MTS-Uzbekistan (Uzdunrobita, GSM), Beeline (Unitel, GSM), Coscom (GSM), Perfectum Mobile (CDMA) and UzMobile (part of Uzbektelecom, CDMA).
