Over 3,980 accidents in Uzbekistan occurred due to improper organization of road infrastructure

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- More than 3,980 accidents in Uzbekistan in January-October 2022 occurred due to improper organization of road infrastructure. This was announced by Deputy Interior Minister Bekmurod Abdullayev.

In January-October 2022, 7,636 road accidents were registered in Uzbekistan, he noted. Most of them (3,980) occurred due to improper organization of the road infrastructure.

In particular, the improper organization of pedestrian crossings, the lack of cycle paths and separation barriers led to accidents. Also, many roads lack lighting and restrictive barriers.

There is also a discrepancy between the capacity of the road and the traffic flow. In many areas, underground and overground pedestrian crossings are not organized.

Due to the human factor, 3,656 traffic accidents were committed. Among these factors are non-observance of speed limits, inexperienced drivers, ignoring traffic lights and road signs, etc.
