Over 30 Uzbek Citizens Evacuated from Iran

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — As of 16 June, more than 30 Uzbek nationals have been successfully evacuated from Iran and returned home, according to a statement from Uzbekistan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The operation was carried out via transit through Turkmenistan and Azerbaijan.

The Foreign Ministry expressed its gratitude to the governments of Turkmenistan, Azerbaijan, and Iran for their assistance in organizing a safe evacuation. The ministry emphasized that it continues to take all necessary measures to ensure the safety of citizens in high-risk zones, particularly in Iran and Israel. Uzbekistan’s diplomatic missions in these countries are operating around the clock.

Citizens currently residing in the affected areas are strongly urged to remain in safe locations, monitor official information, and stay in close contact with the embassies.

Previously, the Foreign Ministry voiced serious concern over the escalation of the conflict and Israel’s military operation against Iran, calling for an immediate ceasefire and a shift to political and diplomatic resolution.

On June 16, Turkmenistan’s Foreign Ministry also reported that approximately 120 citizens of various countries — including Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, and Romania — crossed the Turkmen–Iranian border. All evacuees were provided with transportation, food, temporary shelter, and basic necessities.
