Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) - Belarusian exporting enterprises have signed more than 30 agreements and contracts with Uzbek partners on the sidelines of the Belarusian-Uzbek agrarian forum, BelTA informs.
The Belarusian government delegation led by Deputy Prime Minister Vladimir Dvornik paid a visit to Uzbekistan. During the visit, Vladimir Dvornik met with the Prime Minister of Uzbekistan Abdulla Aripov. Negotiations took place with the heads of several ministries and departments. The delegation of Belarus visited Tashkent Agricultural Equipment Plant JSC, Craffers JV LLC and Tashkent processing enterprises. In addition, participants took part in the Belarusian-Uzbek agrarian forum.
Following the forum, the Ministry of Industry of Belarus and the joint venture JSC “Uzbek Leasing International A.O.” signed an agreement on the provision by an Uzbek company of services under financial lease (leasing) agreements for goods produced in Belarus. The Ministry of Agriculture and Food of Belarus and the Ministry of Agriculture of Uzbekistan signed a memorandum of understanding and cooperation.
The total number of participants in the event was more than 700 people. The Uzbek side was represented by delegations from all regions of the country, as well as relevant departments and organizations of the agro-industrial complex. The business part of the Belarusian delegation included about 150 representatives of exporting enterprises of agricultural and food products, scientific, educational institutions of the country.
Uzbekistan is a promising trade and economic partner of Belarus in the Central Asian region. At the end of 2019, the bilateral trade volume of Belarus and Uzbekistan exceeded US$239 million (an increase of more than 1.5 times). This is the highest indicator for the two countries in the history of economic relations. One of the most important positions in mutual trade is agricultural products and food products. In 2019, US$35 million of agricultural products and processed products were delivered from Belarus to Uzbekistan. The volume of supplies of Uzbek agricultural products to Belarus exceeded US$15 million.
In addition to mutual deliveries of products, promising areas of cooperation in the agricultural sector are the participation of the Belarusian side in the construction of dairy complexes, the organization of milk processing, the creation of a joint venture for the production of veterinary drugs, cooperation in the field of selection, the training and retraining of Uzbek specialists on the basis of Belarusian agricultural educational institutions.
