Over 28 tonnes of meat, unsuitable for consumption, found on the markets in 2017

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- In 2017, more than 28 tonnes of meat and 104 tonnes of milk unsuitable for consumption were found on the markets of Uzbekistan. This was reported by the press service of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of Uzbekistan.

The Senate discussed the results of the execution of the law of Uzbekistan "On the quality and safety of food products" by the state supervision bodies.

The Agency "Uzstandart" in the period of 2017 and until April 1, 2018 carried out inspections of state supervision on compliance with the mandatory requirements of normative documents on standardization and rules of metrology and certification in 67 business entities producing and selling food products. According to its results, 42 types of food products out of 183 were found to be inconsistent with the requirements of the current regulatory documents.

The Uzbek destroyed only 385.1 kg and 2 608 liters, as well as 265 pieces of food packaging, which did not meet sanitary standards and hygienic requirements.

Over the past period, according to the results of veterinary and laboratory tests in slaughterhouses and dehkan markets, 28.6 tonnes of meat, 118.7 tonnes of by-products, 104.7 tonnes of milk and dairy products and 3,022 tonnes of plant food products were recognized as unsuitable to the use.

At the same time, as noted at the meeting, despite the ongoing preventive work in this area, there are a number of shortcomings.

During the meeting, it was noted that due to some manufacturers, who, pursuing their personal goals, did not specify the storage condition and the date of manufacture on the packaging of products, merchant shops received products, expiration date of which had already expired. The use of such products has caused disorders of the digestive system and the occurrence of various diseases among citizens.

The vast majority of enterprises are not created under the project, production is carried out in premises intended for other purposes, while safety requirements are not complied with, supplementation is not done according to the recipe and without observing certain norms, the sequence of their packing, marking, transportation and storage, . This causes serious damage to the health of the population.

It was decided to improve the legislation and supervisory mechanisms to ensure the quality of food products.
