Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 3-4 March 2020, 720 citizens of Uzbekistan, including 182 women, 163 children and 61 infants, were returned from Ukraine through the airport in Katowice (Poland). This was announced by the official representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan Yusup Kabuljanov.
“Thus, by 4 March, 11 flights were organized and 2,579 of our compatriots were evacuated from Ukraine,” he said.
According to him, three additional flights are expected from Katowice: at 14:30. and at 16:00 on 4 March, and also at 03:00 on 5 March.
On the territory of Poland there are more than 1,480 fellow citizens, of which 700 people. placed in the accumulation zone of the state border of Poland, and 780 people. - at the Katowice airport.
According to experts, Uzbekistan, among the few countries in the world, has promptly set up work on the removal of its citizens from the combat zone. All repatriation flights are carried out free of charge.
According to the Embassy of Uzbekistan in Poland, the Katowice airport is currently overcrowded. Through the efforts of diplomats, conditions have been created for the citizens of Uzbekistan, including hot food. The mayor’s office of the city has launched an orderly system of passage to the airport building and registration of passengers. The order is controlled by the police and local volunteers. Special corridors have been created for women with children and the elderly. All citizens are served on the basis of pre-prepared lists.
“Realizing the desire of fellow citizens to quickly return to their homeland, we ask all compatriots to remain calm, not to panic, not to succumb to provocations and conflict situations. We assure that all citizens will be returned to the country, the Foreign Ministry spokesman said.
