Over 218 million euros to be spent on the drinking water supply system of the capital

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) – President of Uzbekistan signed a resolution “On measures to implement the project" Transformation of drinking water supply and sewerage systems of the city of Tashkent”.

In 2020, a 7-year joint management agreement was signed between the Ministry of Housing and Communal Services, the capital’s khokimiyat, Tashkent Shahar Suv Taminoti LLC and the French company SUEZ International SAS on the project “Transformation of drinking water supply and sewerage systems in the city of Tashkent”.

In accordance with the document, the total cost of the Project is over 218 million euros, of which 154.5 million euros will be allocated from the loan funds of the French Treasury and European banks, 64.3 million euros - by the Republic of Uzbekistan.

The main indicators expected from the implementation of the Project were also approved:

installation of 673 thousand "smart" water meters with remote data transmission for control and metering of water for consumers (individuals);

reduction of water losses in the drinking water supply system by 12%;

development of master plans for drinking water supply and sewerage systems.

It was also established that the amount of VAT formed within the framework of the Project implementation is paid at the expense of economic entities. The amount of VAT paid is compensated to economic entities at the expense of the republican budget.
