Over 150 teachers and schoolchildren from Uzbekistan take part in the MGIMO international conference

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- The Tashkent branch of the Moscow State Institute of International Relations (MGIMO) has completed a series of educational events for teachers of the Russian language and literature, heads of educational organizations, as well as schoolchildren from Uzbekistan and other countries.

As part of the international conference, which took place on 18 November, the participants learned about the world practices of teaching Russian as a foreign language, got acquainted with effective approaches to its study and expanded their understanding of Russian culture through bright master classes and quizzes.

The conference brought together presentations on the topic of modern teaching of the Russian language. Experts and Russian educators from Uzbekistan, Russia, China, Korea and Turkey took part in the discussions. Having become a single platform for interaction, the event gave the authors of the projects the opportunity to exchange professional experience and discuss the best international practices of teaching the Russian language, which were discussed by the representatives of:

•China University of Petroleum (online);

•Lyceum International House Tashkent;

•Hanguk University of Foreign Languages (Korea);

•Changchun University (China, online);

•Istanbul University (Turkey).

In addition, teachers and methodologists of the education system attended the master class "Gaming techniques in teaching the Russian language" within the framework of the conference and discovered the advanced training course "Corpus Pedagogy in the Lessons of the Russian Language and Literature". The first two classes were held in person, and the remaining lessons of the course will be available online.

Program of the International Conference “World Practices of Teaching Russian as a Foreign Language. Effective Approaches and Socio-Cultural Context” also covered schoolchildren: young enthusiasts were able to test their knowledge during the capital quiz game, and develop and defend their own educational format as part of an exciting championship case. For high school students, teachers of the Center for Pedagogical Excellence in Moscow held popular science master classes on the topic of orthoepy, the evolution of the Russian language and literature, and others.

An informative workshop was held for project managers and administration of educational institutions, as well as a networking session discussing modern platform solutions and working with applicants from Russian branches.

“We hope that such a large-scale event helped the teaching staff in the joint study of the latest teaching methods, and provided the younger generation with wide access to learning the language, cultural, historical and literary heritage of Russia. Their study serves as an excellent help for our children and citizens from other countries to enter Russian universities and quickly adapt to the new environment,” the organizers added.

The conference, launched under the auspices of the Russian Ministry of Education, was organized by MGIMO and the Center for Pedagogical Excellence in Moscow.
