Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 5 October, Chairperson of the Senate, Chairperson of the National Commission on Combating Trafficking in Human Beings and Forced Labor Tanzila Narbayeva met with a delegation led by the OSCE Special Representative on Combating Human Trafficking Valiant Richey, who arrived in our country on a working visit.
During the meeting, practical aspects of expanding open and trusting dialogue and cooperation in mutually beneficial areas, established between Uzbekistan and the OSCE in recent years, were discussed.
Tanzila Narbayeva noted that in recent years our country has carried out systemic reforms to combat human trafficking, achieved concrete results in the activities of the National Commission in the fight against this evil, carried out a lot of work with international partner organizations and civil society institutions to eliminate existing problems in this sphere.
The OSCE delegation was informed about the large-scale reforms being carried out in Uzbekistan to improve the human rights system, combat child labor and forced labor, put into practice the principles of decent work, and combat human trafficking.
Valiant Richey, noting that the human rights protection system in Uzbekistan is at a high level, stressed that the reforms carried out in the country under the leadership of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev are highly appreciated by the international community.
V. Richi highly appreciated the ongoing reforms in Uzbekistan to combat human trafficking and forced labor and fully supported the initiative of Uzbekistan on the need to strengthen practical interaction between the parliament, government and civil society institutions. In turn, he noted that he would present the practical proposal of Uzbekistan to representatives of relevant state and non-state organizations, parliaments and governments of states within the OSCE responsible for combating human trafficking, and the OSCE would provide all necessary support to establish this cooperation.
At the end of the meeting, the parties exchanged views and agreed on a number of issues related to the further development of cooperation in combating human trafficking.
