Organization of Turkic States: Yesterday and Today

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 10 November 2022, a round table was organized at the Institute for Legislative Problems and Parliamentary Studies under the Oliy Majlis on the topic "Organization of Turkic states: yesterday and today".

The event was attended by senators and deputies of the Oliy Majlis, members of the Scientific and Expert Council of the Institute for Problems of Legislation and the editorial board of the periodical "Bulletin of Problems of Legislation", representatives of the media, members of the Youth Parliament at the chambers of the Oliy Majlis, as well as employees of the Institute.

In turn, Malika Kadirkhanova, Chairman of the Senate Committee on Women and Gender Equality, also noted that historically the peoples of the countries participating in the Organization of Turkic States have the same roots and the issues of expanding cultural and humanitarian ties are always relevant for them. She separately emphasized that “an important aspect of the meeting to be held in Uzbekistan is that it will go down in history as the first summit of the Organization of Turkic States. Prior to this, the organization acted as the Cooperation Council of Turkic Speaking States.”

The Organization of Turkic States is recognized as an effective regional structure that promotes the development of practical partnerships in such topical areas as trade, investment, innovation, transport, tourism, cultural, humanitarian ties, etc. Therefore, mutually beneficial cooperation within the framework of the UTC for all member states of the organization, including Uzbekistan, will serve to strengthen economic cooperation, as well as the development of multilateral relations both with neighboring countries and with new partners outside the region.

Following the results of the round table, the participants of the event noted that the collection “The Organization of Turkic States and the Parliaments of its Member States” prepared by the Institute is a necessary and interesting practical guide that is in demand not only for members of parliament, but also for researchers of international and parliamentary law, professors -teaching staff and students of higher educational institutions, and also recommended to translate this collection into foreign languages and present it to other Turkic-speaking states.

During the "round table", on the issues discussed, tasks for the future were identified, which should be implemented in the future.
