Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- In order to ensure the socio-economic growth of Kashkadarya region by increasing the level of urbanization, it is planned to improve the transport infrastructure and create amenities for the population of the region, taking into account the opinion of experts.

In accordance with the Decree of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan dated January 28, 2022 No. UP-60, the level of urbanization of Kashkadarya region, set out in paragraph 154 of the state program for the implementation of the "New Development Strategy of Uzbekistan for 2022-2026", determined the level of achievement by 50 percent.

The Ministry of Economic Development and Poverty Reduction invited international experts and specialists to study world experience on this issue.

International experts and specialists note that today in the territory of Kashkadarya region settlements are located at a considerable distance from the transport infrastructure. This will have a negative impact on the socio-economic growth of Kashkadarya region, including further improving the living standards of the population, meeting the population's needs for goods and services in the shortest possible time, the effective placement of social facilities and the full provision of engineering and communication infrastructure.

One of the main factors of economic growth is the availability and efficient use of transport infrastructure.

Taking into account the agglomeration and internal migration processes, it is planned to carry out work to ensure the compactness and convenient location of urban settlements with a population of more than 1.43 million people.

There are a number of rural settlements on the territory of Kashkadarya region, bordering on some cities. They include conditions (water, sewerage, electricity, gas, etc.) and provide for the possibility of expanding the city through the agglomeration of these territories.

Based on this, the Ministry of Economic Development and Poverty Reduction, together with the relevant ministries and departments, in order to ensure the above issue, is paid attention to a number of the following areas:

• for the full provision of infrastructure on the territory, the organization of future production, the construction of housing and social facilities (kindergarten, school, hospital, etc.) laying the foundation for creation;

• taking appropriate measures and allocating funds for the full deployment of infrastructure in the area by selecting several townhouses where the urban infrastructure is practically formed;

• taking appropriate measures to select rural areas adjacent to the city and using its engineering and communication infrastructure, with a view to further including these rural areas in the urban area.

Today the population of Kashkadarya region is about 3.4 million people, the level of urbanization is 42.8%, that is, the urban population is 1.46 million people, and the rural population is 1.95 million people.

In order to create favorable conditions for the population, ensure socio-economic growth in Kashkadarya region, the need for goods and services will be met by bringing the level of urbanization to 50 percent and improving the transport infrastructure.
