Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 10 November, the German Society for International Cooperation (GIZ) held a training on "Opportunities for certification in the cotton and textile industry of Uzbekistan" within the framework of the GZ project "Sustainable development and increased value added in the cotton industry".
The training examined various certificates in the field of cotton growing and textile industry, their relevance and importance for Uzbekistan, procedures and basic rules for certification, as well as their role in increasing the export potential of products.
The training was attended by representatives of the Ministry of Investments and Foreign Trade of the Republic of Uzbekistan, the Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic of Uzbekistan, the Association "Uztextilprom", the State Unitary Enterprise "Center for the provision of services in the agro-industrial complex", the Agency "Uzbekstandart", the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Uzbekistan, the Scientific Center "Pakhtasanoat Ilmiy Markazi ”, cotton-textile clusters, as well as experts in the field of standardization and certification.
Experts from the office of the certification company "Control Union" in Germany with presentations acted as trainers-experts. During the training, experts and participants discussed the processes and steps of certification, as well as exchanged experiences in this area.
The project is funded by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) and its main goal is to develop social, environmental and economically sustainable cotton production systems, including primary processing in the country and expand the export potential of the textile, clothing and knitwear industries.
