Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 7 January, an open-air skating rink opens at the open area of the State Academic Bolshoi Theater named after Alisher Navoi in Tashkent. The Open Air Skating Rink project is being implemented by the State Committee for Tourism Development and the Art Uz Promotion Agency with the support of the capital’s khokimiyat.

The goal is to popularize a healthy lifestyle and sports among the population. Deputy Prime Minister, Chairman of the State Committee for Tourism Development Aziz Abdukhakimov visited the skating rink with responsible persons and discussed issues related to the opening of the project. The city’s open-air ice rink and the accompanying festive zone are set for one month.

During this time, a number of cultural, entertainment and sports events will take place on the open-air ice rink. The concert zone organizes the dance music festival "Dance Music Fest Winter", the "Rock" festival "Iosis Fest", "Tashkent Rap Festival", and at the rink itself there is a youth ice hockey championship, a dance show on ice, etc.

As part of the opening of the City Ice Rink, a performance by the star of Russian ice sports, Olympic champion in figure skating Alexei Yagudin will be organized with his program "Winter". Also, as part of the opening of the City Skating Rink, a concert of Uzbek pop artists will be held on the stage.

For the convenience of visiting the City Ice Rink, the organizers of the event provide a food-court zone, where the best metropolitan brands of fast food, confectionery and coffee are presented. There is a rental point for skates and other accessories for skating next to the rink.
