Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- In 2020, the volume of pollutant emissions into the atmosphere in the capital increased by 17% (316.0 thousand tons) compared to 2018, including emissions from vehicles reached 290 thousand tons (an increase 14%), from stationary sources - 26 thousand tons (62% growth). 

Air pollution causes negative effects of carcinogenic particles on humans, causing asthma, cancer, lung and heart disease.

The total area of the city of Tashkent is 35,630 hectares, of which the total area of the green zone is 757 hectares, the area of green spaces (lawns) is 225 hectares (2.7%).

According to international standards, in order to preserve biodiversity, the area of the green zone and green spaces should be at least 12% of the total area.
