Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- The head of the regional tax department promised to speed up VAT refunds for 11.5 million soums.

The official was detained while receiving money from the company's accountant in Syrdarya region.

It turned out that citizen N.T. promised an accountant of one of the firms to help accelerate the VAT refund for 2020 in the amount of 230 million soums. For this, he demanded 5% of the indicated amount - 11.5 million soums.

The head of the department of the regional tax department was detained red-handed while receiving US$1,000 and 900,000 soums.

On this fact against citizen N.T. a criminal case was initiated under Art. 168 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Uzbekistan (Fraud). An investigation is underway.
