Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- The omicron coronavirus strain is rapidly spreading around the world. According to the World Health Organization, the new mutation has already been recorded in 126 countries around the world. Of particular concern is the fact that the first patients infected with this strain were registered in Kazakhstan yesterday.
The press service of the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Uzbekistan asked comments of the Deputy Head of the Service of Sanitary and Epidemiological Welfare and Public Health, Doctor of Medical Sciences, Professor Nurmat Atabekov.
“Indeed, in recent days, the geography of the spread of this mutation around the world has been rapidly expanding,” noted Nurmat Atabekov. - Taking this into account, it is possible that a new strain will be identified in our country as well. However, it is inappropriate to disseminate false and baseless information through social networks, or to stir up excessive panic among the population.
Until now, several strains of coronavirus have been registered in our country, and the incidence rates have increased in certain periods of the year, and at some point have decreased.
Given the short recovery period from Omicron and the low likelihood of hospitalization of patients, we have every reason to say that Uzbekistan is ready for an increase in the virus infection. An example of this is the work carried out under the leadership of the head of our state and under the direct leadership of the Republican Special Commission to contain the coronavirus pandemic in our country.
But one cannot relax, as omicron is more infectious than other strains and can infect a large part of the population in the short term. Therefore, it is more important than ever to strictly adhere to quarantine rules, to actively participate in vaccination activities.
