Nuriddin Kholiknazarov elected as mufti of Uzbekistan

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- A new mufti, chairman of the Muslim Board, has been elected in Uzbekistan. This was reported by the press service of the Muslims Office of Uzbekistan.

On 19 October, an expanded meeting of the Council of Ulema of the Board of Muslims of Uzbekistan took place. The meeting elected a new mufti.

Nuriddin Kholiknazarov became the mufti of Uzbekistan and the chairman of the Muslim Board of Uzbekistan.

Prior to that, he served as the chief imam-khatib of the city of Tashkent.

Nuriddin Kholiknazarov was born in 1968 in the city of Asaka, Andijan region. In 1992 he graduated from the Mir Arab madrasah in Bukhara region, in 1998 - from the Tashkent Islamic Institute of Imam Bukhari, in 2007 he received a diploma from the Ferghana State University.

It should be underlined that the former chairman of the Muslim Board of Uzbekistan, Chief Mufti Usmonkhon Alimov, died at the age of 71 in August this year.

Imam-khatib of Yunusabad district of Tashkent city Rakhmatulloh Sayfuddinov became imam-khatib of Tashkent city and imam-khatib of the Mirza Yusuf mosque.
