Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) - The Law “On the legal base of business entities” has been amended according to which the time period for the business entity to respond to a claim has been reduced.

First, a one-month period from the date of its receipt was set aside to give an answer to the claim to economic entities. Now this needs to be done within 15 days. Since the law does not indicate that the period is calculated in working days, calendar days are considered. Thus, the term was halved.

The response to the claim is signed by the head of the business entity or his deputy, the document is certified by the seal (if available) and sent by registered or valuable letter, by telegraph, teletype, or using other means of communication that ensure the recording of its sender with notification to the recipient, or is handed under the receipt.

Although, by law, the response to a claim is the responsibility of the receiving entity, there is no liability for violation of the established 15-day period. However, a claimant who fails to receive a response in time may appeal to the economic court.

This law entered into force on 11 March  2020.
