Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Beginning from 1 August 2025, Uzbekistan will introduce new restrictions on electricity payments for consumers who have outstanding debts for household waste collection services. This was announced by the Agency for Waste Management and Circular Economy Development.

Under the newly established procedure, information about debtors will be transferred from the Toza makon electronic billing system to the system of the Regional Electric Networks by the 3rd day of each month. By the 5th, users with outstanding balances will receive SMS notifications from short code 2100. They will then have five days to settle their debts. If payment is not made within that period, access to electricity payment services will be temporarily blocked. The restriction will be lifted automatically once the full debt is repaid.

It is important to note that this measure will not apply to debts accumulated before 30 June 2025. The new procedure will take effect on 1 August and will cover only debts for waste removal services that have accrued since 1 July.

Companies providing sanitation services will be required to ensure the accuracy of billing. If there are disruptions or if services are not delivered in full, charges for the affected days will be recalculated.

As a reminder, in March, the President of Uzbekistan signed a law establishing a link between electricity payments and timely payment for waste removal services. The law came into effect on 8 June of this year.
