No Nipah Virus Cases Registered in Uzbekistan, Epidemiological Situation Remains Stable

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Uzbekistan has not recorded any cases of Nipah virus infection, the Republican Sanitary and Epidemiological Committee reports.

The epidemiological situation in the country remains stable due to continuous monitoring at 54 border checkpoints.

The agency reminds citizens planning trips to India to observe personal hygiene rules and pay close attention to food safety. In particular, it is recommended to wash hands thoroughly with soap and use sanitizers, wash fruits and vegetables before consumption, avoid drinking untreated water, and refrain from eating fruits that may have been damaged by bats.

If high fever, severe headache, or other symptoms appear, individuals are urged to seek medical attention immediately.

International statistics indicate that the Nipah virus poses a serious health threat. This zoonotic disease is transmitted from animals to humans, particularly from bats, as well as through contaminated food and from person to person. In recent years, cases have been regularly reported in India and other Southeast Asian countries.

The Sanitary and Epidemiological Committee emphasizes that continuous border monitoring and adherence to hygiene recommendations are key measures to prevent the virus from entering the country and to protect public health.
