No decision made on opening the border with Tajikistan

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) – Uzbekistan did not make a decision on the opening of the border with Tajikistan. This decision should be made by the Republican Headquarters for Countering Coronavirus.

"The decision to open the border with Uzbekistan has not yet been made by the Republican Headquarters to Combat the Spread of Coronavirus," reports Asia-Plus.

“On 1 October 2020, we received an official notification from the Government of Uzbekistan regarding the intention to open the border, and sent a letter to the Republican Headquarters to Counter the Spread of Coronavirus. At present, the answer has not yet been received,” the Tajik Foreign Ministry told the publication. In connection with the pandemic, it is the Republican headquarters that makes the decision to open the border, determines the conditions for crossing it and limiting it.

We will remind, Uzbekistan from 1 October opened the border for all countries, including Tajikistan, while the countries are divided into groups, according to which restrictions are introduced.

The Dusti checkpoint reported that on 1 October, only a few people crossed the border: “Several people were allowed in the direction of Uzbekistan due to emergencies in their family, and a bus with Uzbek students who study in Tajik universities entered Tajikistan.”

It was noted that all the necessary measures were taken.
