Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- At the thirty-sixth plenary session of the Senate, the Law "On Restricting the Distribution and Consumption of Alcohol and Tobacco Products" was discussed.
As is known, this Law was rejected by the senators at the twenty-seventh plenary session of the Senate, and a conciliation commission was formed by the chambers of the Oliy Majlis to resolve the disagreements that arose under the Law.
The law was approved by the Legislative Chamber, taking into account the opinions, proposals and objections expressed by the members of the conciliation commission.
It is expected that the Law will introduce a number of innovations that will restrict the distribution and consumption of alcohol and tobacco products.
Of particular importance is the state guarantee of limiting the distribution and consumption of alcohol and tobacco products, the prevention of their negative impact.
Therefore, the sale of alcohol and tobacco products, devices for the use of tobacco and nicotine to persons under the age of twenty-one, their sale by these persons, as well as the involvement of these persons in the process of consuming alcohol and tobacco products is prohibited. This age limit is increased in comparison with the current Law.
The number of bodies that carry out activities to restrict the distribution and consumption of alcohol and tobacco products is also expanding, and their powers in this area are clearly defined.
In addition, restrictions are being introduced on the sale of alcoholic and tobacco products, as well as devices for the use of tobacco and nicotine.
