New Multimodal Route China–Kyrgyzstan–Uzbekistan–Turkmenistan Launched in Kashgar
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — A ceremony was held in Kashgar, China, to mark the launch of freight transport along a new multimodal route linking China, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, and Turkmenistan, the Dunyo news agency reports.
The creation of this route aims to diversify the transport corridors “Central Asia–China” and “China–Europe,” as well as to expand the transit potential of the “Middle Corridor.”
On 15 October, the first seven vehicles departed from Kashgar along the new route. According to the schedule, they are expected to arrive in Uzbekistan on 21 October and in Turkmenistan on 24 October. Part of the cargo will then continue from Turkmenistan to Azerbaijan.
Cai Tuanzhe, Director of the Transport Services Department of China’s Ministry of Transport, noted that the launch of the China–Kyrgyzstan–Uzbekistan–Turkmenistan multimodal route reflects the commitment of the governments of Central Asian countries and China to deepening mutually beneficial cooperation. According to him, the new transit corridor will promote economic growth across all participating countries, increase the volume of mutual freight transport, and advance the Belt and Road Initiative.
The route opens new opportunities not only for access to European markets but also to those of South Asia and the Middle East, strengthening Central Asia’s role as a key link in global trade logistics.
