New governor of Samarkand region appointed

An extraordinary session of Samarkand regional Council of People’s Council was held on 23 December 2016. President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev attended the session.

During the session, new governor of Samarkand region was appointed. Himmat Okbutaev was appointed as the governor of Samarkand region. Prior to appointment he worked as the first deputy governor of Samarkand region.

He replaced Zoyir Mirzaev at this post. Mirzaev was appointed as the Deputy Prime Minister of Uzbekistan, Minister of Agriculture and Water Resources of Uzbekistan - Head of Complex on the issues of agriculture and water management, processing of agricultural products and consumer goods.
