Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- A wheel-lathe CA8013B with numerical control (made in China) was installed at the locomotive maintenance point (PTOL) at the Angren station. The device is designed for turning wheelsets without rolling them out from under the locomotive. The installation and adjustment of the machine was carried out by specialists from the People’s Republic of China together with our specialists.

The new facility was commissioned in 2016 and is part of the Uzbekiston locomotive depot. The need for the construction of a new PTOL was caused by the construction of a new railway section Angren - Pap and the commissioning of a 19.2 km railway tunnel in the Kamchik mountain range. On this section with difficult terrain both in winter and in summer, there is a need to maintain the technical condition of locomotives that carry valuable cargo and passenger trains.

In the current, 2020, the construction of a workshop for turning wheel pairs of locomotives was completed. This is where the new wheel lathe is installed. 96 specialists are involved in the work of this workshop. Today, the capacity of the volume of work performed in the workshop for the production of TO-2 locomotives is 50-60 units per month. The PTO is located on the territory connecting the Tashkent and Kokand regional railway junctions. The locomotives operating on the railway section between the stations Kizil Tukumachi - Akhangaran - Angren - Pap are serviced here. Technical service is provided to electric locomotives of the O’’zbekiston (PRC), ERMAK (Russia), 3VL80s, VL60K series and TEM2 diesel locomotives (registered at the Uzbekiston and Kokand depots).

The PTOL building has two repair ditches and, on a hill, there are platforms for inspection and maintenance of the running gear, internal and roof equipment of locomotives. There are also auxiliary premises - a locksmith’s department, a welding department, a mechanical department, a canteen for service personnel.
