New driving licenses receive status of official document

This is stipulated by the decree of the Government of Uzbekistan from 19 June 2017. Uzbekistan, as it was earlier reported, plans to issue national driving licenses of new sample from October 2017.

The resolution introduced amendments to the resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers “On measures to introduce new samples of the national driver’s license and certificate of registration of automobile vehicle” from 2 March.

According to the resolution, driver’s licenses and motor vehicle registration certificates will include the personal identification number of the individual (PIN FL) and a special electronic tag (NFC smart cards). NFC smart card allows non-contact data exchange between the devices.

Certificates of vehicle registration issued for motor vehicles of legal entities will contain the taxpayer identification number (TIN).

The resolution said that drivers must provide an old driving license and a coupon to it, as well as a passport for obtaining new driving licenses.

According to the resolution, the Ministry of Interior Affairs will create a Center for Innovative Projects and Public Services. The center is created to improve provision of public services in the system of internal affairs bodies.
