Negotiations between Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan on border demarcation held in Cholpon-Ata

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- In the city of Cholpon-Ata, Issyk-Kul region, negotiations were held on 9 August between government delegations of Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan, at which the parties will discuss demarcation of certain sections of the state border.

According to Special Representative of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Kyrgyz Republic Nazirbek Borubaev, the parties intend to clarify the positions of the countries on previously uncoordinated sections of the Kyrgyz-Uzbek border.

He added that today 1,170 kilometers of borders between the countries have been clarified, now it is necessary to resolve the issue of the remaining ones.

Nazirbek Borubayev explained that the governments of the two countries plan to complete border issues in full in 2022.

The length of the border between Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan is 1,378 kilometers, 85 percent of them have been described.

Earlier, the parties met and discussed the issue in Andijan.
