Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 21 December 2021, a meeting with the heads of diplomatic missions of our country abroad was held at the National Center of the Republic of Uzbekistan for Human Rights (NCHR).
The First Deputy Speaker of the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Director of the National Center for Human Rights Akmal Saidov and First Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan Farhod Arziev addressed the participants.
The event discussed the work done this year within the framework of Uzbekistan's membership in the UN Human Rights Council, the implementation of tasks arising from the international obligations of our country. The upcoming international human rights events in 2022 were also announced.
New Uzbekistan comes from the highest tribunes of international organizations with a number of proposals and initiatives in the field of democratic reforms and human rights. Among them, it should be noted:
- Adoption of a special resolution of the UN General Assembly on achieving the Sustainable Development Goals and enhancing the role of parliaments in ensuring human rights;
- Organization of the Global Education Forum in Samarkand as part of the regular dialogue on human rights;
- Development of a World Environmental Charter to lay the foundations for a new United Nations environmental policy;
- Creation of a permanent Youth Council of Central and South Asia in order to establish effective cooperation in the field of youth;
- Conducting the Central Asian Youth Forum in Uzbekistan;
- Creation of a Regional Council for people with disabilities to fully realize their potential;
- Establishment of the mandate of the UN Special Rapporteur on the rights of youth;
- Development of universal principles of the Council of Judges;
- Conducting consistent work on such a topical issue as the creation of a regional human rights mechanism in Asia.
During the discussions, special attention was paid to the content of the ongoing reforms in the field of human rights development in Uzbekistan, as well as the issue of regularly informing the public about significant achievements in this area. The role of the embassies of our country in the interpretation and promotion of the human rights policy of New Uzbekistan, as a unique regional and international model, was emphasized.
At the end of the event, the role of diplomatic missions in the effective and active cooperation of Uzbekistan in the implementation of international initiatives in the field of human rights, the protection of the rights and legitimate interests of our compatriots abroad, the development of human rights relations with foreign countries was noted.
In this regard, the National Center of the Republic of Uzbekistan for Human Rights thanked the heads of the diplomatic missions of Uzbekistan in the USA, Austria, Belgium, Great Britain, Malaysia, Poland, Russia, as well as at the UN in Geneva and UNESCO.
