Navoi Mining and Metallurgical Company Produces Goods Worth 60.8 Trillion Soums in First Half of 2025

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — In the first half of 2025, Navoi Mining and Metallurgical Company (NGMK) produced goods worth 60.8 trillion soums, a 44.1% increase compared to the same period in 2024, when output stood at 44.2 trillion soums, the company’s press service reports.

The physical volume of production rose by 1.4%, reaching 1.54 million troy ounces of gold (approximately 47.8 metric tons), based on an average price of US$3,113 per ounce.

Under the investment program, US$219.5 million was utilized during the reporting period — a 39.6% decline from the US$363.5 million invested in the first half of 2024. The company created 1,190 new jobs over the six-month period, up significantly from 227 jobs created a year earlier.

As part of the localization program, NGMK produced goods worth 757.5 billion soums (compared to 471.6 billion soums in 2024). Intersectoral cooperation purchases exceeded 3.6 trillion soums, up from 3.2 trillion soums in the same period last year.

A comprehensive cost-reduction initiative allowed the company to cut production expenses by 1.8 trillion soums, compared to savings of 1.2 trillion soums in the first half of 2024.

Muruntau — the world’s largest open-pit gold mine — remains the company’s flagship operation, with a resource base of 101 million ounces (3,141 metric tons). Total mineral reserves under NGMK’s control are estimated at 140 million ounces (4,354.4 metric tons).

Figures on revenue and net profit were not disclosed in the report.

As part of the "Muruntau Mine Development, Phase V, Stage II" project, the company completed a feasibility study aimed at increasing the volume of gold-bearing ore supplied to Hydrometallurgical Plant No. 2 to 60 million tons annually.

NGMK is also implementing several strategic projects under its Sustainable Development Program, which runs through 2030. These include the expansion of Hydrometallurgical Plant No. 7, which will enable the processing of up to 26 million tons of industrial waste annually, increase precious metals output, and create new jobs through energy-efficient technologies.

Parallel development is underway at the Kokpatas and Daugyztau (Phase III) deposits. Once operational, Hydrometallurgical Plant No. 3 will process up to 10 million tons of ore per year.

The company has also completed construction of the "Skip Shaft" at the Zarmitan deposit. This new vertical shaft, with a diameter of 6.5 meters and a depth of 1,000 meters, will enable the annual extraction of 1.4 million tons of ore. It will facilitate ore transport to Hydrometallurgical Plant No. 4 and serve additional purposes such as personnel transport, drainage, and underground ventilation.
