Navoi medical center receives new equipment
The equipment was handed over within the framework of grant aid project ”Improvement of equipment of Navoi regional multidisciplinary medical centre” implemented as part of the Official Development Assistance (ODA) of Japan.
Mr. Kobul TURSUNOV, Khokim of Navoi region, Mr. Nobuaki ITO, Ambassador of Japan to Uzbekistan, as well as Mr. Bakhodir Atakhanov, Deputy minister of health, who made the speech at the handover ceremony, highlighted the importance of the implemented project for further development of health care system in Navoi region. Meanwhile, it was also emphasized that supplied medical equipment by JICA’s support will enhance the quality of specialised, high technological health care of local people in Navoi region in terms of diagnostics, treatment and prevention of primary diseases (planned surgery, therapy, cardiology, otorhinolaryngology, etc.), as well as will ensure introduction of advanced methods and technologies of health care in medical institutions of Navoi region.
Earlier, in the framework of official visit of Mr. Shinzo ABE, Prime-minister of Japan, to Uzbekistan on 24-25 Octobe 2015, a number of documents has been signed for 686 million Japanese yens (around US$6 million) on the grant aid project “Improvement of Equipment of Navoi Regional Multidisciplinary Medical Centre” of Japan`s ODA.
Also, before the supply of medical equipment Ministry of Health of Uzbekistan completed reconstruction and renovation works of building of Navoi Regional Multidisciplinary Medical Centre that is a main medical institute in the region which employs more than 380 medical staff and consists of 18 departments that are able to accommodate 205 beds in total.
As of today, the total amount of the projects aimed at supply of the medical equipment to Uzbekistan under the framework of grant aid projects of Japan’s ODA equals to more than US$50 million.
