Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) - On 13 August 2021, a meeting of the Republican Commission on the organization and holding of national review contests "Gender Equality Activist" and "Woman of the Year" was held.

It was attended by senators, members of the commission and expert council, officials of ministries, departments and organizations, heads of secretariats, chairmen of standing commissions on youth policy, women and gender equality of the Jokargy Kenes of the Republic of Karakalpakstan, regional and Tashkent city Kengashes of people’s deputies, as well as representatives of the media.

It was noted that the competitions are organized by the Commission for Ensuring Gender Equality, the Senate Committee of the Oliy Majlis on Women and Gender Equality, and the Republican Public Women’s Council.

It was emphasized that the resolution of the Kengash of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan "On review contests held by the committees of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan" from 22 April 2021 envisages a national competition "Gender Equality Activist", approved the composition of the republican commission, the Regulation of the competition.

According to the Regulations on the competition, ministries and departments, non-governmental non-profit organizations, khokimiyats, business entities and the media who have achieved high results in ensuring gender equality, are taking the initiative in the development of society, and implementing urgent tasks in the field of protecting women’s rights can take part in it.

The “Gender Equality Activist” competition is held in one stage. Applications from candidates for participation in it and information about the work done must be submitted to the commission in the period from 1 September to 1 October.

The winners will be determined at the final stage of the competition, which will take place in November.

The competition is held in the following nominations: “The most active state body in ensuring gender equality”, “The most active law enforcement agency in ensuring gender equality”, “The most active khokimiyat in ensuring gender equality”, “The most active non-governmental non-profit organization in ensuring gender equality”, "The Most Active Entrepreneur in Ensuring Gender Equality" and "The Best TV Program Aimed at Promoting Gender Equality", "The Best Website or Portal on the Internet Aimed at Promoting Gender Equality".

At the same time, the Republican Public Women’s Council also plans to organize a national competition "Woman of the Year" in order to support women with high spirituality, making a huge contribution to the socio-economic development of our country, carrying out activities in various spheres, which are an example in the family and raising children. , as well as those who take an active part in increasing the authority of the organizations in which they work, identifying comprehensively exemplary women who take an active part in the life of society, familiarizing the general public with their activities, popularizing advanced work experience.

This competition is open to women workers in enterprises, organizations, institutions, regardless of their form of ownership, as well as housewives.

According to the Regulations, the competition is held in September-November in three stages, subject to certain conditions, based on the results, winners and prize-winners in various nominations will be identified.

At the meeting, a number of organizational issues were considered and appropriate proposals and recommendations were made for holding competitions at a high level.
