Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- The National Chamber of Innovative Healthcare of Uzbekistan, as part of its grant program, will pay for the tuition of one of the promising students of the new Master’s program "Public Health", which is being opened for the first time by Westminster International University in Tashkent (WIUT).
Public health is aimed at creating and developing scientific and practical foundations for disease prevention, life extension and health promotion through the development and implementation of targeted programs. Today, the relevance of this direction has been proven by life itself.
The Public Health Leaders grant program is aimed at supporting young professionals and was founded by the National Chamber in memory of Doctor of Economics, Professor Sanjar Jalalov. In 2018, he returned to Uzbekistan from Canada to use his successful career at the THETA Collaborative (Toronto) to help implement HTA (Health Technology Assessment) methodology in his home country. S. Jalalov was one of those who promoted the idea of the importance of opening a magistracy in public health at WIUT.
The first graduate students will start their studies on 25 January 2021. Currently, applications are being accepted from applicants, which will end on 8 January. Upon completion of the master’s degree, graduates will receive a master’s degree in Public Health Sciences.
This master’s course is designed for those with a medical or health education as well as social studies.
This MSc Public Health Science program is successfully implemented at the University of Westminster in London. Master students who pass it in Uzbekistan also receive a diploma from the University of Westminister (London, UK), which is recognized all over the world, including in Europe, the USA and others.
The experience of the University of Westminster in London has shown that graduates of this course are effective public health professionals, whether they are medical practitioners, healthcare professionals, academics, or public health managers. Specialists are in demand in national and international health organizations, local health departments, public and private medical institutions, government and public organizations.
“Considering the innovativeness of this master’s course, the wide opportunities that the specialization in the field of public health gives its graduates, the National Chamber decided to support one of the promising students, who will be selected according to a number of criteria. The grant will cover the cost of his master’s studies. I am sure that future masters will also contribute to the development of healthcare management in Uzbekistan, which is one of the tasks set by the country’s leadership for our organization,” said the head of the National Chamber Rovshan Izamov.
Creation of a new master’s course "Public Health" at Westminster International University in Tashkent is envisaged by the decree of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan №UP-4666, adopted on 7 April 2020.
In order to create opportunities for different categories of students to complete a master’s degree, including practicing doctors, training can be completed both full-time (1 year) and part-time (2 years).
