Namangan Textile Plant Resumes Work After Gas Disruptions
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — The G.B.T. textile enterprise in Namangan has resumed operations following a temporary shutdown caused by disruptions in natural gas supply.
The development was reported by the office of the Presidential Commissioner for the Protection of the Rights and Legitimate Interests of Business Entities.
The gas supply issues began on March 25, when company management raised concerns during an open dialogue with businesses, citing low pressure and interruptions in gas delivery.
As a result of the production halt, more than 1,200 employees were temporarily left without work, and the fulfillment of three major export contracts worth over US$2 million was put at risk.
The case was taken under the personal supervision of Business Ombudsman Abdumannop Buriev. In cooperation with relevant authorities, urgent measures were implemented, reconnecting the enterprise to a medium-pressure gas network and fully restoring production.
Gas supply disruptions have become a recurring issue for industrial enterprises in Uzbekistan.
In January, Jamshid Yuldoshev, a representative of Cherry-Pick Production, publicly reported the inability to launch packaging production since September 2025 due to a lack of gas. Intervention by Deputy Prime Minister Jamshid Khojaev and directives from the Ministry of Energy helped resolve the issue in a short timeframe.
The resumption of G.B.T.’s operations demonstrates the effectiveness of government mechanisms for supporting businesses and addressing critical infrastructure challenges.
