Mural dedicated to the fight against violence toward women unveiled in Tashkent
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — As part of the "16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence" campaign, a new mural was unveiled in the Yunusabad district, created in collaboration with UNFPA, the United Nations Population Fund, and the confectionery house "Safia".
The mural depicts a family where mutual respect and involved fatherhood are central, emphasizing the importance of men's participation in creating a safe family environment. The vibrant national patterns in the mural design showcase the integration of cultural values in the fight against gender-based violence.
Representatives of UNFPA and "Safia" highlighted the power of art as a tool for conveying important social messages. The mural, located near a university, aims to draw the attention of young people to issues of equality and respect within the family.
UNFPA Representative Dr. Nigina Abaszade noted: "This mural symbolizes our shared mission to create a safe environment where every woman and girl can feel protected and respected. Involved fatherhood is the foundation of a strong family. When men actively participate in their children's lives and share care and responsibility with their partners, it creates an atmosphere of equality where there is no room for violence."
The mural was created by talented artist Nadezhda Rikhsyllaeva, whose work combines deep meaning and vibrant aesthetics: "It is a great honor for me to be part of such an important project. I wanted to create an image that inspires and highlights the values of equality, respect, and love in the family. My goal was to create not just a picture, but a message for everyone who sees this mural. I hope it will inspire the creation of a kinder and more equal world.”
