Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Deputies of the Legislative Chamber of Oliy Majlis of Uzbekistan undertook to clarify how lessons are taught to form a sense of patriotism in the younger generation, instill spiritual values.
At the next "government hour" of the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis, Minister of Public Education Sherzod Shermatov answered the questions of the people’s representatives on the topic, having previously announced that the country is carrying out systematic work to develop the public education system, improve the qualifications and authority of teachers in society.
The subject "Education" carries a spiritual and educational orientation, incorporating such courses as "National Idea", "Ethics", "History of Religions", "Sense of National Pride". From the 2020-2021 academic year, it was introduced in grades 1-9. In grades 10-11, they will begin to study it from the next academic year.
It is taught one hour per week, during the academic year it will be 34 hours. A methodological guide for teachers on modern approaches to organizing lessons has been developed. An information platform www.tarbiyam.uz has been created on the Internet to help teachers.
This site contains regulations that reveal the goal and objectives of the subject "Education", curriculum, teaching aids, calendar plan, teaching technologies, lesson plans, special sections for students and parents. Textbooks for grades 1-9 have been created, 21 videos on topics have been prepared, which are included in the textbooks in the form of QR codes.
The emphasis is on the formation of high spirituality, the components of which are patriotism, ideological immunity, kindness, responsibility, tolerance, legal culture, innovative thinking and hard work.
In teaching topics, advanced technologies and teaching methods are used, such as "Project Based Learning", "Interest Based Teaching", "Art Fest", "Role Model", "Situation Analysis", and others.
At the "government hour" the deputies asked questions about the work carried out in educational institutions to familiarize students with a healthy lifestyle, instilling craving for physical education, adherence to the rules of personal hygiene and good nutrition.
6 million 236 thousand pupils study in 10,008 general educational institutions in the public education system. The ministry has established a coordination sector for the organization of healthy nutrition and the provision of medical services. They are taking measures to further improve the organization of healthy eating, create conditions in accordance with the established sanitary rules, norms and hygienic standards, and provide school canteens with high-quality food.
In the public education system, 7,672 general education schools have gyms, basketball, volleyball, football, handball, mini-football and tennis courts. Within the framework of five important initiatives put forward by the President of the country, circles and clubs of fine arts, music, sports, information technology, vocational training for girls have been created in the republic’s secondary schools, covering 3.9 million students.
At the “government hour” specific recommendations were made for the further development of reforms in the educational sphere. As a result of the discussions, they came to the conclusion that it is acceptable to include parliamentary control over spiritual and educational work in schools.
