Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- As of 1 July 2021, the population of the capital is 2.73 million people. Compared to the beginning of the current year, it has increased by 42,800 people, or 1.6 percent. The population density per square kilometer is 7564.
The rapid growth of the capital’s population requires the construction of new social facilities, the creation of new production and service enterprises, and the expansion of cultural and leisure facilities in the city.
The issue of changing the borders of Tashkent region and the city of Tashkent, which the deputies considered at the next meeting of the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis, caused active discussions.
This issue was discussed at a plenary meeting of the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis on 10 August, and many questions asked by the deputies on the agenda remained open, and therefore the project was returned to the committee.
Over the past time, a round table was held with the participation of representatives of relevant ministries and departments, deputies to finalize and further improve the project.
In the opinion of the people’s deputies, the transfer of land plots from the territory of the Tashkent region to Tashkent in the future will lead to a further improvement in the living conditions of the population, the expansion of the sphere of production and services.
After a long controversy, the draft resolution was adopted by the deputies.
