More than a thousand self-employed women work as drivers through online taxi ordering services
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Self-employment as a special tax regime was created to support entrepreneurship and legalize labor in Uzbekistan.
Currently, more than 2.6 million self-employed citizens are registered in the country, of which 284,000 registered in 2024, the Tax Committee of Uzbekistan said.
Self-employed people do not pay taxes if their income does not exceed 100 million soums. To calculate their length of service and pension, they can pay social tax on a voluntary basis.
In order to develop the passenger transport system and reduce unemployment, the list of activities available to the self-employed includes the transportation of passengers by passenger cars.
As of 1 March 2024, 420,800 self-employed taxi drivers were registered, of which 161,600 work through online aggregators integrated with tax authorities. More than 1000 of them are women.
Among the drivers using online taxi aggregators:
- 59,274 people – under 30 years of age;
- 90,420 people – from 30 to 50 years old;
- 11,970 people are over 50 years old.
In the first 2 months of 2024, drivers using online aggregators received the following income:
