More Than 52,000 People Living With HIV in Uzbekistan

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Updated data on the HIV situation in Uzbekistan were presented at a press conference dedicated to World AIDS Day.

According to experts, more than 52,000 people in the country are living with HIV. As of today, around 46,000 patients receive antiretroviral therapy, and 88% of them have achieved an undetectable viral load.

More than 5 million people underwent HIV screening in 2025. Mobile medical teams were deployed to reach remote areas, helping ensure that 95% of people living with HIV are aware of their status and have begun treatment when needed.

It was noted that all pregnant women are tested for HIV, while more than 700 children born to HIV-positive mothers have been provided with safe infant formula until six months of age.

Approximately US$7 million from the state budget and the Global Fund has been allocated this year for the procurement of antiretroviral medications.

By 2027, the authorities plan to expand HIV testing coverage, introduce rapid and self-testing methods, and fully digitalize the prevention and treatment system.
