More than 117,000 packs of uncertified medicines seized in Ferghana region

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — In Ferghana Region, a joint operational effort by the State Security Service and the regional Customs Department resulted in the stopping of a Nexia-3 vehicle driven by a 1986-born resident of Ferghana city. The vehicle was stopped in the Baghdad District.

During the inspection, 413 packs of eight different types of medicines were found inside the car; these medications lacked confirmed quality certification.

Further operational actions at two warehouses owned by the same individual and located in Baghdad District uncovered a large quantity of uncertified medicines illegally stored — 100,332 packs across 60 different types. All products were seized and documented according to procedural requirements.

The operation continued in Ferghana city, where another warehouse was found to contain 16,897 packs of medicines of 39 types, also stored in violation of legal regulations.

The total preliminary volume of seized uncertified medicines amounted to 117,642 packs with a value exceeding 8 billion soums. All products have been placed in temporary storage.

During further operations in Margilan city, three hidden warehouses owned by a 1992-born citizen were discovered. On these premises, 30,000 undeclared medical items were found — including catheter needles, tourniquets, electronic thermometers, and blood pressure monitors — smuggled into the country via indirect routes from the Kyrgyz Republic. The total value of the equipment amounted to 400 million soums.

Preliminary investigations are underway regarding these incidents.
