More than 1 million people to get access to centralized drinking water supply for the first time

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- As you know, the programs "Obod qishloq" and "Obod mahalla" initiated by the head of our state, which are currently being actively implemented in all corners of our country, contribute to a radical transformation of the appearance of remote regions, full provision of them the necessary infrastructure, including utilities, thereby improving the living conditions of people and strengthening their faith in tomorrow.

To date, large-scale construction and improvement work has already been done in many villages and makhallas. In particular, the level of drinking water, gas and energy supply of the population has significantly increased.

So, in accordance with the decree of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan "On additional measures to implement the programs "Obod qishloq"and “Obod mahalla” in 2021, in order to develop drinking water supply and sewerage systems, it is planned to carry out construction and installation work at 352 objects, 407.8 km and 384 structures.

1.05 trillion soums have been allocated for these purposes. Of these, a targeted program was approved for 874.3 billion soums.

As of 1 September 2021, 535.4 billion soums were financed, 2,994.1 km of networks were built and reconstructed.

For 352 objects provided for in these programs, potential contractors have been selected with the status of "CC" and higher in the rating of construction contractors of the Ministry of Construction. Contracts have been signed with them and construction work has already begun.

In September-October of this year, it is planned to complete construction and installation works at 283 objects and put them into operation. To date, construction and installation work has already been completed at 69 sites. Now the necessary documents are being drawn up for their commissioning.

As a result of this work, more than 1 million people will gain access to centralized drinking water supply for the first time, and 2.9 million people will have improved drinking water supply.

The General Prosecutor’s Office, the Accounts Chamber, the Council of Ministers of the Republic of Karakalpakstan, as well as regional Kengashes of People’s Deputies are constantly monitoring construction and installation work.
