"Month without counterfeit" starts in Uzbekistan

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- In 2021-2022, during the nationwide month "Month without counterfeit", the sale of 3,000 items of counterfeit products was revealed. This was announced at a press conference at the Department of Intellectual Property of the Ministry of Justice.

On 15 February, the “Month without counterfeiting” started in Uzbekistan, and these events will last until 15 March. The purpose of the event is an effective fight against the sale of counterfeit products throughout the country. This was reported by the press service of the Committee for the Development of Competition and Consumer Rights Protection.

It is no secret that counterfeit products are found in the domestic market of our country.

What is counterfeit?

Counterfeit products are goods produced and sold in violation of intellectual property rights.

It should be noted that in 2021-2022, 3,000 types of counterfeit products were sold during the nationwide “Month without counterfeit” products.

During 2022, 357 preventive measures were implemented, as well as explanations were given to business entities that the production and sale of counterfeit products is the basis for liability. In the course of outreach activities, catalogs of counterfeit products were distributed, and electronic copies of these catalogs were posted on a special platform.

More than 10,000 catalogs of counterfeit food, pharmaceutical and alcohol products were also distributed to citizens, and an electronic copy of the catalog of counterfeit products was posted on the Industrial Property Protection Portal. In addition, more than 2,100 copies of catalogs were placed on special banners using a created link in the form of a QR code in densely populated areas throughout the country.

At the press conference, first of all, opinions were expressed on the need for explanatory work so that consumers could distinguish counterfeit goods from the real one.

At the same time, the Ministry of Justice informed about the problems in the field of intellectual property, proposals for their elimination, and plans for the further application of effective measures against violations.

The event was attended by senior officials of the Committee for the Development of Competition and Consumer Protection of the Republic of Uzbekistan, who expressed their opinion on the problems of the Ministry of Justice in the field of intellectual property and proposals for their elimination

At the same time, it was noted that the territorial departments of the Committee will take an active part in the activities defined by the program of measures for holding the month “Month without counterfeiting” within their powers.
