Mirziyoyev Orders Acceleration of Uzbekistan’s Chemical Projects
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — On 11 March 2026, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev reviewed a presentation on major investment projects and new production capacities in Uzbekistan’s chemical industry. During the meeting, he stressed the need for a modern strategic planning system based on the principle “goal – action – result.”
The head of state instructed officials to set specific targets for increasing chemical production, launching new facilities, and expanding the sector’s export potential. A key objective for 2026 is to raise chemical exports to US$720 million. Fertilizer production goals include 1.12 million tons of nitrogen, 135,000 tons of phosphorus, and 222,000 tons of potassium-based products.
In total, 133 projects worth US$9.5 billion are planned this year across the industry and regions, attracting US$2.5 billion in investments. Of these, 24 strategic projects will mobilize US$1.3 billion and launch seven new production facilities. Progress on expanding capacity at the Kungrad Soda Plant, Samarkandkimyo’s mineral fertilizer production, and the Dekhanabad Potash Plant was critically reviewed, with officials instructed to work closely with investors to accelerate completion.
Special attention was given to processing phosphogypsum industrial waste from the Ammofos-Maksam plant to produce additional products, including sulfuric acid. Plans for a modern chemical-technological innovation center, involving leading South Korean companies, were presented. The center will focus on gas and coal chemistry, advanced chemical analysis, sorbents and catalysts, and nano- and composite materials, becoming the only facility of its kind in Central Asia.
Other projects discussed include production of solvents, dry cyanides, caustic soda, silicone, and mineral fertilizers, as well as modernization of ammonia, urea, and ammonium nitrate production at Ferganaazot and Navoiyazot, the launch of household chemicals in Tashkent Region, and new tire production at the First Rubber-Technical Plant.
Additionally, improvements in project management at Uzkimyosan’at were reviewed. The company has implemented an ERP system integrated with 21 ministries and procurement operators, consolidating 16 information systems into a single digital platform to streamline operations and enhance efficiency.
